Fionna shrieked in pain, she hit the back wall. The ringing in her ears blocked out most noise but she could still hear Cake. Her right shoulder hurt incredibly bad, a sprain? Or a broken bone? Whatever it hurt bananas bad! She couldn't understand what was happening. She just heard people talking, like she was watching a play in the dark. Shapes moved in the corners of her vision but she couldn't focus on them. Fionna didn't quite understand anything that was happening.

"Fionna! Oh my Glob! Oh my Glob!" Marshall exclaimed pushing through the crowd.

On instinct Fionna recoiled away from his hand. She remembered what happened. Marshall had gone all demonic on her and he hurt her arm, why was it hurting so badly? The girl struggled up slowly, her body complaining and her head aching. "Marshall-Lee you need to leave." She said glaring at the vampire king. She could feel her strength fading away quickly.

"Fionna let me help y-" He was cut off by the hostile glares of their audience. "I-I just want to help!" He explained angrily.

"Really Marshall Lee?" Prince Gumball asked astonished. "Seeing as you've done enough damage to Fionna, and my castle," Marshall looked around. The place wasn't in it's neatest state. "I think I have the authority to banish you from the Candy kingdom." The vampire was shocked, PG was serious, he had hurt Fionna, why couldn't he remember then?

He fled, like the cowardly jerk he was.

Fionna leaned against Cake suddenly. "Fionna, honey we need to get you to a doctor quick." Cake whispered softly to her sister.

"I-I'll be fine Ca-" Fionna fell to her side letting out a mangled groan. "I just n-need some rest." She blacked out.

"Ugh, why can't I remember?!" Marshall shouted floating back to his cave. What had happened? He thought. How did Fi-. He cut off the train of thought. He couldn't have done that knowingly. He cared about her too much to hurt her like that. No, something else must have happened, but I can't remember anything after Gumball kissed her, the vampire pondered. What a jerk. Wait! Marshall stopped outside his house. Why did PG kiss her? Marshall grimaced. Something else was involved here and he knew only one person he could consult...

Honestly, the Nightosphere was the worst place in the universe. It reeked like blood and demon sweat, never a good combo. It was dark and damp and a good portion of it was on fire. The very worse part of it was his mother's house, what evil lurked there, what monsters. Marshall despised the place. He hated it all and loathed his mother for leaving him alone when he was only seven.

The vampire rapped at the door, hoping his mother wasn't home yet. No such luck. The door opened and the demon queen of the Nightosphere smiled at him.

"Marshall Lee, you've finally come to take up the family business!" She said excitedly.

"No mom I came to talk. I swore to never rule the Nightosphere." Marshall groaned. This was the greeting every time he came to visit his mom in this dreadful place. She could never settle for a, 'hello,' or a, 'oh I haven't seen you in several decades, how are you?' It was always the same script.

"Someday Marshall Lee, you will have to take up the throne." Helena Abadeer groaned.

"Look I just have some questions okay? You're the only person I know experienced with this kind of... stuff."

His mom smiled at the sort-of-compliment and nodded. "What do you need to know?" She let Marshall in and he floated into the main room.

"It's about my demonic powers. I think I used them without knowing and I don't know how." He explained a little shaky at the thought.

Helena Abadeer thought for a few seconds. "Well you're going to have to tell me more then that." She said finally.

Marshall sighed, "I got mad and blacked out, when I woke I had hurt someone I lo-like very badly." He didn't want to fill his mother in on the details and certainly didn't want her to know about Fionna.

"That's interesting because your powers can be triggered by emotion, but you can't use them without full consciousness." She walked up to a dusty bookshelf. "Something would need to be controlling you or triggered the emotion itself for a blow so powerful to knock you out. Now let me see..." The ruler of the Nightospere pulled out a book. "It's powerful magic and dangerous to, I'm surprised you only hurt one victim and not a whole village, where were you?"

"Candy Kingdom." He muttered.

His mother sighed sadly. "All the souls you could have brought me, what a shame."

"Mom!" Marshall yelled.

"Yes, yes, okay, here it is." She pointed to a paragraph in the book. "This magic jewel, or whatever, is the only devise that can be used to control demonic powers, like yours. It's been lost for centuries though." Marshall's mom listed tiredly.

Marshall picked up the book and nodded to his mom. "Thanks," He floated out the door and through the portal back to his house.

Something about the jewel spooked the vampire king. It couldn't be lost, he remembered seeing it, but from where? He tried to recall the memory. It was vague but he knew it he had to have seen it recently. What was it? What was it?!

Then it hit him...
